The deployment of non-conventional renewables (NCR) has been seen as the best alternative to decarbonize the electricity sector because they are clean and had become more efficient. However, their intermittency poses a challenge for reliable energy. The solution may be found in a combination of NCR with storage, but since these technology costs are still high, in order for policy-makers to achieve their clean Energy goals there may be a need for further economic incentives. This Conference will be a Panel where we will discuss economic rules/incentives to attract/guarantee the necessary storage for different markets. In particular:

• integration in day ahead and real time markets
• markets for ancillary services
• resource adequacy designs for storage (capacity mechanisms)

We will have a selected group of Panelists with large experience and knowledge on Power Markets Operation and Policy, including:

• CAISO: Greg Cook, Executive Director, Market & Infrastructure Policy
